Key Findings

This RFP seeks comprehensive watershed management planning services including: water quality and quantity assessment, ecological and cultural values identification, climate change adaptation strategies, land use planning integration, natural assets valuation, stakeholder consultation including Squamish Nation, monitoring program development, and capital cost estimates over 5, 10 and 20 year timeframes. Project budget is $100,000 with interim report due September 2026.

Methodology

Proponents must review and propose methodology for implementing monitoring program including sampling frequency, analyte list (sucralose, pharmaceuticals, personal-care chemicals, caffeine, bacterial source-tracking), QA/QC protocols, and reporting methods. Work includes community consultation (minimum one in-person event and island-wide survey), Squamish Nation consultation, stakeholder engagement, septic system mapping and assessment, natural assets inventory and valuation, water balance analysis, risk/hazard analysis including climate-related hazards, and development of management strategies.
